What is Katy Amateur Radio Society?
The Katy Amateur Radio Society (KARS) is an active club located about 30 miles west of Houston. Our members are active in many aspects of the hobby. This includes but is not limited to ARRL Field Day, Winter Field day, as well as other field events throughout the year. Many KARS members are involved with various aspects of emergency communications working with both Harris and Fort Bend county emergency operations, ARES, RACES, MARS, and CERT. We also participate in many other public service events such as the Houston Marathon, Texas MS 150, Emergency Service District 48 (HCESD48) Smoke Alarm Blitz, Katy Area Safety Fest. KARS has a strong Elmer group and we welcome anyone interested in learning about amateur radio to join us.
