JS LOIC—a JavaScript version of the application—and the web-based Low Orbit Web Cannon have also been released. DDoS perpetrators use LOIC to flood target systems with junk TCP, UDP and HTTP GET requests. However, a single LOIC user is unable to generate enough requests to significantly impact a target. For an attack to succeed, thousands of users must coordinate and simultaneously direct traffic to the same network.

The Defence Industry Courses Alumni [DICA] comprises graduates of the Defence and Industry Study Course [DISC], the former Defence Industrial Mobilisation Course [IMC] and since 2010, the Defence Industry Leadership Program - SA. The IMC which ran from the early 1950’s through to 1991 and the DISC that replaced it from 1993 are study programs conducted by the Department of Defence aimed at enhancing the relationship between Defence and Industry.
